I recently had a blood test, and it turns out my blood sugar level was a bit high.
I don’t usually have a sweet tooth, so I wondered why… and then it hit me—maybe it’s because I’ve been listening to this song :)
Today, I’d like to introduce “Honey Baby Love (자기야 여보야 사랑아)” by Lyn.
Doesn’t the title alone already sound incredibly sweet?
This song captures the feelings of a woman deeply in love, paired with Lyn’s signature soft, delicate, and slightly husky vocal tone. Together, they create a track that feels like one of the sweetest songs in the world the moment you hear it.

This song was released as the title track of Lyn’s 6th full album, CANDY TRAIN (Part 2). At the time, Lyn wanted to break away from her image as “a singer who only sings sad ballads.” This track marked her refreshing transformation into a brighter, more playful style.
Collaborating with hitmaker composer Hwang Sung-je, Lyn personally wrote the lyrics, infusing them with her own natural way of speaking—full of warmth, affection, and a touch of playful charm. In a later interview, she shared that this was the first song where she experienced the audience singing along together, which left a deep impression on her.

“My sweetheart, my honey, my love
When I think of you, it feels like I’m dreaming
My sweetheart, my honey, my one and only
Please protect me, make me shine—I love you"
"Even when you’re right beside me, you still feel like a dream
I think I understand what it means to miss you even while looking at you
You’re the one who makes me dream
More lovely than anyone else in this world
I’m truly grateful—I’m happy because we’re together”
These lyrics express the most honest and overwhelming emotions one can feel when deeply in love. By repeating everyday, affectionate terms like “sweetheart” and “honey,” the song conveys how the loved one becomes a miraculous presence that brightens one’s entire life.
In particular, the paradoxical line “I miss you even when I’m looking at you” perfectly captures the emotional sensibility of 2010s K-pop lyrics. Written by Lyn herself, these words go beyond simple expressions of affection—they deliver a heartfelt sense of gratitude, as if every moment spent with a loved one feels like a sweet dream you never want to wake from.
The track features a cute and refreshing mid-tempo R&B groove, lightly layered with hip-hop beats. Lyn’s slightly airy and nasal vocal tone, which often feels emotional in ballads, comes across as bright and charming here.
It feels like a warm spring afternoon—sitting by a café window, sharing a quiet, happy conversation with someone you love.
At the time of its release, this song became widely loved as a “go-to confession song” and a popular wedding serenade. Even more than a decade later, it remains one of the most cherished love songs for those who remember the romance of that era.
